International Rural Women Week
Rural women International Day of Rural Women is celebrated on 15th October every year .
It got started in 1995, at the United Nations conference on women in Beijing, as a way to honor rural women, who make up 1/4 of the world’s population. Rural women contribute to the majority of global food production. Despite their impressive contribution, they receive hardly any credit. Sudha Society (Regd) organized International Rural Women Week from October 15 to October 21, 2017, in Nirvana City, Gurgaon. A stall with environmental friendly Jute products ( and papad etc. ), which were made by rural women ( trained by RUDSET Institute, Gurgaon), was put up by Ms. Mehar, Sohanpal Mr. Aryan Jain , both students of 8th standard, International Delhi Public School. ,actively participated in this event . This event was organized under the banner of Sudha Society (Regd). The goal of this event was to recognize the important role the rural women play in society. It acknowledged these often unacknowledged women. It was a week to recognize their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. These students, at such young age, and Sudha Society (Regd) are committed to this cause. We all should also contribute to this initiative. Thank you.
